The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group is a non-governmental organization that promotes a better understanding of #cetaceans and their habitats in #irish waters through education and research. We operate an All-Ireland Sighting and Stranding Scheme and maintain a stranding network of trained volunteers. Throughout the last three decades, these schemes have actively built an unrivalled dataset, which is crucial to further our understanding of these unique animals.![]()

A few weeks ago, IWDG reached an important milestone with the sightings counter passing the 40,000 marks. But more interesting than the actual number is the shorter interval between each 10,000 records. ![]()
