Claire Kelly

Education and Outreach Officer

I’m Claire and I am a native of Kilrush, in fact a native of Merchants Quay! I first became actively involved with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group in 2017 when I completed a summer internship monitoring the Shannon Dolphins.
In 2020 I undertook a MSc. in Applied Marine Conservation, at what is now ATU Galway. My thesis involved conducting additional research on the Shannon Dolphin population where I categorised and estimated the longevity of the skin lesions found on these bottlenose dolphins.
I am delighted to be back with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group as the Education and Outreach Officer continuing to promote the conservation of these majestic amimals.

As Education and Outreach Officer I will be responsible for the fulfilment of the IWDG’s educational mission, including the planning and delivery of educational events for cetacean enthusiast of all ages. Further, I’m dedicated to broadening the group’s outreach through the organisation of publicly accessible outreach events and local group coordination.
