Emilie De Loose
Project Officer and Data Scientist with the Atlantic Whale Deal
Emilie is the project leader of the Atlantic Whale Deal, an EU-funded project focused on mitigating ship strikes using state of the art technologies. Originally from Belgium, Emilie fell in love with Ireland’s rough coastline during a semester at the Atlantic Technological University (ATU), Galway for her international master and joined the group in 2024. There she specialised in applied megafauna conservation. Growing up it was tricky keeping her out of the water, with Emilie ending up as a dive instructor during her studies. These days she spends more time on the water as she conducts offshore research surveys as a marine mammal observer.
