The United Nations needs to stop the destruction of deep sea ecosystems by banning fishermen from trawling nets on the ocean floor, Australia, New Zealand and Palau, joined by actress Sigourney Weaver, said on Tuesday.

EU negotiators will call on the United Nations next week to outlaw any expansion of deep-sea fishing in vulnerable ecological areas where trawlermen use huge trawling nets and dredging to scoop up fish from the seabed.

On saturday 23 September, a humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) was spotted in Dingle Bay by IWDG member, Nick Massett.
