Bottlenose dolphins in Cork harbour

Bottlenose dolphins have been seen regularly off Roche’s Point in the mouth of Cork harbour.

There are around eight dolphins that have been sighted regularly for the past 4-5 weeks. IWDG member Conor Ryan states “Every time I have gone out, they have been around without fail, usually quite close to shore and putting on some spectacular aerial displays ! It’s a great opportunity for people in the Cork area to see them”.

They can be seen from both the west side (Fountainstown and Myrtlville) and the east side (Roches Point) of the harbour entrance.

“Whatever they’re feeding on in the tidal stream at the point must be keeping them there”. says Conor.
