Job Vacancy with the Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Foundation

The Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Foundation (SDWF) based in Kilrush, Co Clare (see www.shannondolphins.ie) is looking for an experienced research assistant to help with this years bottlenose dolphin monitoring.

Each year the SDWF employ a research assistant to take responsibility for the ongoing tour boat monitoring in the Shannon Estuary cSAC on behalf of the National Parks and Wildlife Service. They will also be expected to help run the Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Centre in Kilrush and contribute to other research projects ongoing at the centre.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of fieldwork especially experience of photo-identification of bottlenose dolphins, matching images and can work in the field with little supervison.

The contract is for 3 months from June to September 2009 with renumeration of 2000 euro per month. The person will be expected to live in Kilrush, Co Clare or its environs and ideally will have their own transport. A powerboat certficate is also desirable.
