Overview
Whale Tales is the biennial gathering of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG), dedicated to celebrating and promoting Ireland’s whale, dolphin, and porpoise conservation.
Our inaugural event took place in November 2019 at the Green Isle Hotel, Dublin.
Since then, we’ve hosted the event online in Clare during COVID, Sligo in 2022 (2021) and West Cork in 2023.

Whale Tales 2027
Now that Whale Tales 2025 has wrapped up, we want to thank everyone who joined us and shared their feedback. We learned a great deal about the kind of event and venue our members are looking for in the future.
As we begin planning for the next Whale Tales, we are looking for suggestions for a residential-style venue (not a hotel) that we could rent for a weekend. Ideally, it should include:
-
Accommodation for attendees
-
A lecture or conference room suitable for approximately 100 people
If you know of a suitable location, we’d love to hear from you.
