Sloan Massie

Welfare Officer

Sloan is currently in her final year of veterinary medicine at University College Dublin and has previously completed a BSc Hons in Zoology at the University of Guelph in Canada. She has extensive hands-on experience with marine mammals in human care and rehabilitation settings, but her primary interests are in wild population health and anthropogenic disturbances. Sloan is actively involved in IWDG’s Stranding Network, where she is trained to assess the welfare and health of cetaceans that live strand. Her current project is to establish a response protocol for cetaceans who are entangled in Irish waters.
