Following the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group involvement in whale and dolphin research in Cape Verde, Dr Simon Berrow was invited to contribute to a two-day workshop in Praia, Ilha de Santiago.
The workshop has been organised by Associação Caboverdiana de Ecoturismo (ECOCV) aims to develop national cetacean sightings and strandings network and Code of Conduct.
The IWDG have been visiting Cape Verde since 2002 in an attempt to match individual humpback whales between Ireland and cape Verde, which is a potential breeding ground of humpbacks feeding in Irish waters.
We thank Tony Whelan of Canola Pictures for facilitating the IWDG with this presentation
