The IWDG received a call from Liz Erangey at 11:00 am on Tues. 4th Oct. 2005 that she was attending to a live-stranded dolphin at Garryvoe Beach, East Cork; which had stranded earlier at 09:00.

On Sat 10th Sept, Dave Wall, IWDG, alerted local observers that he had observed what he was 90% confident was a fin whale feeding in the Blasket Sound. Mick Mc Carthy, Assistant Harbour Master, Cork Harbour reports dolphins bowriding container ships infront of Cobh am 02 Sept 05. These have been positively identified as bottlenose dolphins.
As I type 10:56 am 1st Sept 2005, IWDG members have informed us that they’ve been watching bottlenose dolphins inside Youghal Harbour just out from the Walter Raleigh Hotel. They were 1st seen at 07:00am in a large group of around 30, but these have broken up into smaller sub-groups. So get down there quick
IWDG received a call at 13:00 28th Aug. from Ross Bartley of Crossing the Lines Films that they encountered a mother and calf striped dolphin pair on Rutland Island, Sun 28th Aug 05 at 11:00 am. They were on location, filming badgers for the 3rd series of Wild Trials. Paddy Sleeman, UCC was on hand
