A lonely killer whale on Canada’s Pacific coast, whose search for companionship has become a danger to boats and float planes, and himself, will be captured next week so he can be reunited with his family pod, officials said.

Around 20 fin whales were sighted 6 miles south east of the Old Head of Kinsale on the afternoon of Saturday 12 June. While a further 3-4 fin whales were observed on Sunday off the Kinsale Gas Fields the following day.

Whitby Humpback!

A 30ft long humpback whale was located at Whitby on England’s east coast over the bank holiday weekend.

The world should do more to set up protected zones in the oceans to shield depleted fish stocks from the ravages of trawlers and pollution, the United Nations said on the weekend.

U.S. officials said on Thursday they are granting special protection to a small group of Alaska killer whales that have dwindled in number since some members were seen swimming through oil from the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill.

The IWDG have just received a reliable report of a huge aggregation of c100 basking sharks that were observed this Sunday 16th May 2004 by an angling charter off the Old Head of Kinsale.
