The IWDG are looking to recruit two new officers in the new year.
Education and Outreach Officer
The initial focus of the IWDG Education and Outreach Officer role will be to work with existing officers to develop the Education and Outreach Program, prioritising Local Group coordination. This role will appeal to a candidate with a strong knowledge of marine conservation and interest in ocean literacy and a desire to communicate the importance of marine protection to a variety of stakeholders and audiences from the general public to government representatives.
This role is based at our head office in Kilrush, Co Clare, but some flexibility will be allowed for some remote working options. This is a full-time job as an IWDG employee for a fixed period of 3 years. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will align with recommendations for post-graduates in Ireland and is likely to be in the region of €24,000 per annum.

Project Scientist – Whale Deal
We wish to recruit a full-time scientist to contribute to a new EU project funded through INTEReg Atlantic called Whale Deal. The initial focus of the IWDG Project Scientist will be to support the delivery of ATLANTIC WHALE DEAL a new EU project aiming to mitigate ship strikes and enhance carbon sequestration in the Atlantic through innovative technologies. The officer will develop IWDG data management, analyse long-term sighting datasets, and assist in the delivery of the IWDG five-year strategy. This role will appeal to a candidate with skills in data management and modelling and a strong knowledge of conservation status of large whales in Atlantic waters.
This role allows for remote working options; however, preference will be given to those who can work from the IWDG’s main office in Kilrush, Co Clare. This is a full-time job as an IWDG employee for a fixed period of 3 years. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will align with recommendations for post-graduates in Ireland and is likely to be in the region of €30-40,000 per annum.
