Salty Sea Sisters 1st Birthday

IWDG Join The Salty Sea Sisters 1st Birthday

The Salty Sea Sisters are a “community of wild women from across the isles of Ireland and the UK who support, connect and encourage each other in the pursuit of adventure through the strength of sistership”. They celebrated one year together in style this September at Fair Head in Ballycastle.

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group were invited to join a mixture of other NGO’s, community groups and various local crafts people that were hosting stalls at the event.

Education and Outreach Officer Sibéal Regan and Northern Irish Officer Cara Bradley represented the group at the event with an educational stand where they spoke to the attendees about the various species of whales and dolphins they could potentially see in Irish and UK waters and more importantly how to get involved with our citizen science recording schemes when they are out and about enjoying nature.

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group is an all-Island organisation and always embrace the opportunity to connect with interested and likeminded people that seek solace in the sea and are passionate about marine conservation. These qualities were in abundance among all the attendees, and we were delighted to share our experiences, stories, and knowledge with them.

If you would like be out in nature more or get actively involved with marine conservation around the island of Ireland contact Sibéal at outreach@iwdg.ie for more information on our local groups or take a look at the many fantastic social adventure groups near you on the Salty Sea Sisters website here.
