Now that most, if not all, stranding records for 2012 have been received and validated by the IWDG Cetacean Stranding Scheme, we can see that last years total number of records received has reached a new record high. In total, 175 individual stranding records were received for the year involving 177 animals. Previously, 2011 had been the ‘record’ year with 163 stranding events. Strangely, 2010 was one of the quieter years in recent times with only 92 strandings recorded. Read more in the IWDG Members section……
