IWDG and Fair Seas will be joining a diverse panel to discuss climate change at Trinity College Dublin
To celebrate Trinity’s Green Week, join us for a public talk on the oceans and the environment chaired by Duncan Stewart. A discussion with a diverse panel who all share a love of our seas and which led them in different life directions. All care passionately about how pollution and greenhouse gas emissions are threatening marine life, water sports and even our homes and historic buildings due to sea levels rising.
- Nina McGowan won the gold medal in October 2022 and set a world record in the women’s master category of free-diving, reaching a depth of 43 metres. What is it like to be hold your breath for over 2 minutes and what is the scariest aspect of this sport? Through her diving, Nina has developed a passionate interest in climate change.
- Dr Zoë Roseby is a researcher in sea level change in Trinity College and co-leads the Linte na Farraige project funded by Creative Ireland, where dramatic light installations in iconic Irish sites are demonstrating rising sea levels. She will speak about our changing coastlines and the type of adaptations we need to make.
- Sibéal Regan is the Education and Outreach Officer with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group and will talk about how climate change has impacted whales and dolphins in Irish waters and how marine protected areas offer one solution to limiting the impacts associated with climate change and biodiversity loss.
The panel discussion will be chaired by Duncan Stewart, environmentalist and media personality.
Join us for an informal and lively discussion to hear about the panels’ diverse experiences and be inspired to take action to protect our waters. There will be time for refreshments and chats after the discussion.
