We wish to recruit a full-time IWDG Marine Biodiversity and ORE Officer to build capacity in the IWDG and wider eNGO sector in relation to marine biodiversity and Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) and a Marine Mammal Ecologist to assist in the delivery of the Marine Mammal Mitigation Plan for MP2 at Dublin Port.
The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group is Ireland’s premier eNGO working in the marine environment. Established in 1990, the IWDG has built a credible reputation for effective advocacy for cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises) and their habitats. The IWDG is also a primary data holder with unique datasets on cetaceans which we use to support conservation actions and policies. Currently the IWDG has seven full-time staff and eight service providers and its’ head office is in Kilrush, Co Clare.
IWDG Marine Biodiversity and ORE Officer
We wish to recruit a full-time IWDG Marine Biodiversity and ORE Officer to build capacity in the IWDG and wider eNGO sector in relation to marine biodiversity and Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE). The successful candidate will assist in developing IWDG conservation policies, build IWDG and the IEN advocacy capability and assist in the delivery of the IWDG strategy. The position is funded by the Irish Environmental Network through the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications.
This is a full-time job as an IWDG employee for a fixed period of 3 years.
Start date: 1 September 2024
Gross starting salary is €66,800 in year one with annual increments.

Marine Mammal Ecologist for Dublin Port
IWDG Consulting wish to appoint a Marine Mammal Ecologist (MME) to contribute to the Dublin Port Master Plan 2 (MP2) project. IWDG Consulting are contracted by RPS to deliver a Marine Mammal Mitigation Plan (MMMP) on behalf of Dublin Port Company to meet compliance with planning permission and licensing obligations granted firstly for the Alexandra Basin Redevelopment (ABR) Project, and now the MP2 Project. The MMMP was agreed as part of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) for the ABR Project to minimise environmental impacts on marine mammals.
This is a full-time contract for a fixed period of 2 years
Start date: 1 September 2024 (or earlier)
Gross starting salary is €25,603-32,918 (Level 6) depending on experience.
