IWDG Act to Establish Local Whalewatch Groups

With so many cetaceans out there at present and with so many folk contributing to our sighting scheme, IWDG members should be meeting up at local sites for casual sea watches. This is consistent with our objectives of organizing locally, rather than doing everything on a grand nationwide scale.

You are likely to live close to other IWDG members who regularly “sea- watch”. For instance, several of you living in the Dublin area watch alone from places like Howth Head, Dalkey and Bray Head. Wouldn’t it be helpful if you could watch together, share lifts and draw from your varying experiences? To facilitate this, we would like to establish a list of those of you who actively watch, and would allow us to print your name, county, phone and e-mail numbers in our newsletters & bulletins so you can network locally.

This is based on a belief that 2 pairs of eyes generally see more than 1, besides, the more the merrier! Please contact Padraig Whooley if you would like your name to be included in this, letting us know, where you generally watch from, your level of experience, your optics and watch frequency.
