IWDG host their annual live stranding course in Kilrush, Co Clare on 10 April, 2011. Places available.
The aim of this course is teach people what to do in the event of a live cetacean stranding event. It will be very practical with an exercise on the beach with whale pontoons and a model whale and dolphin. We will discuss the practical aspects of administering first aid, beach management and what options are open to people. Although there will be some veterinary information it is not aimed at veterinarians but anyone likely to be faced with this situation.
The talks will be located in Kilrush at the Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Centre (see www.shannondolphins.ie) and the practical exercise at Kilkee.
Participants will need to supply their own wetsuits etc if they are to enter the water.

14:00 Practical session on the beach with stranding kits and IWDG pontoons

Cost of course is 30 per person for IWDG members and 50 for non-members.
