Ship strike is considered one of the biggest threats to large whales worldwide. Many approaches are being taken to reduce this significant impact including separation zones, speed reduction and real-time alerts on whale presence.
A current EU Funded project OCEAN has attempted to integrate a number of information sources on the presence of whales and potential ship strike risk to alert mariners in real-time to make informed navigational decisions.
This online webinar will present the results of this novel approach to this global issue. The webinar is aimed at those interested in whale conservation and management and hopes to introduce this rapidly developing issue to an interested audience.
Note starts at 13:00 Central European Time which is 12:00 British Summer Time
