FairSeas and the IWDG are hosting a special evening in Bantry on the 30th of August to get together and discuss the importance of effective MPA network implementation. Seafarers, local communities and fishermen 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐁𝐄 central to new marine protected area designations to ensure comprehensive marine protection in Ireland.
Come and join us in 𝐃𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐟𝐞, 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟕-𝟖:𝟑𝟎𝐩𝐦 to discuss the importance and benefits of an effective MPA network and how we can advocate together for better MPA governance and implementation. The event is 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 with complimentary tea, coffee and cake!! No prior booking is required.
IWDG’s research vessel Celtic Mist will also be in Bantry harbour. Come along and 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟔-𝟕𝐩𝐦 and learn all about the history of the vessel, as well as the new ways in which Celtic Mist is now surveying our seas. Celtic Mist was donated to the IWDG in 2011, by the family of Ireland’s former Taoiseach, Charles J. Haughey.
Fair Seas are are a coalition of Ireland’s leading environmental non-governmental organisations (eNGOs) and environmental networks, including the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG), who are calling for 30% of Ireland’s ocean territory to be fully protected by 2030. This is our greatest chance at restoring ocean health and we must act now.
