The new Mammal Atlas published this week by the National Biodiversity Data Centre and National Parks and Wildlife Service is a huge achievement. Comiled over many years with the support of many organisations and individuals. The IWDG were key partners and are delighted to have been able to provide thousands of inshore and offshore cetacean sighting records, as well as several species profiles and images for this ambitious project.
If you've reported sightings to us during the 2010-2015 period, they will be included in this body of work, which will be an important tool in helping inform conservation managers in the years ahead. This is a good example of how you as Citizen Scientists can help make a valuable contribution towards the conservation and better understanding of Ireland's cetacean fauna. Thanks as always for supporting our recording schemes.
